Neil Young announces Carnegie Hall shows

Neil Young has announced a series of four shows in January at New York’s Carnegie Hall.

Young will perform January 6th, 7th, 9th & 10th.

Ticket pre-sales start at 10am ET on Friday, November 1 with general tickets on sale at 10 AM ET on Monday, November 4, both at Live Nation.

Last weekend, Young hosted his 27th annual Bridge School Benefit Concerts at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

Young organizes the annual acoustic-based shows, which raise funds for the Bridge School, a facility that develops and uses advanced technologies to aid in the instruction of children with disabilities; it was founded in 1986 by Pegi Young and Jim Forderer with help from Dr. Marilyn Buzolich. The first benefit concert, in 1986, raised the money necessary to start the school, which opened in ’87.

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young headlined this year’s event, which also saw performances by Queens Of The Stone Age, Tom Waits, My Morning Jacket, Elvis Costello, The Killers, Diana Krall, fun., Heart, and Jenny Lewis.

Metallica to release Through The Never soundtrack vinyl on Black Friday

Metallica will release a limited-edition 180 gram vinyl version of "Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)" as part of Record Store Day’s “Back To Black” event on Black Friday, November 29.

The 4LP soundtrack pressing will be limited to a numbered edition of 4000 copies.

Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, often regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season and, in recent years, has become the busiest retail day of the year.

Back To Black Friday is an event sponsored by Record Store Day organizers to encourage the support of independent local record stores.

"Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)" recently debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 album chart with opening week sales of 26,000 copies.

The 2-CD set highlights performances from last year's shows at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where the band filmed all performance footage featured in the film.

Black Sabbath guitarist posts 2013 tour update

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has posted an update on the band’s 2013 tour in support of their latest album, “13.”

“Many thanks to everyone that came to see us on our tour to South and Latin America,” writes Iommi. “Quite an experience with huge crowds, I'm told 74,000 in Sao Paulo and 60,000 in Mexico City. Also, thanks to Megadeth, great band and really good people to work with, hope they enjoyed it as well.”

“Two grumbles,” he continues, “no thanks to whoever was coughing and sneezing on the overnight Air France flight down and gave me a dreadful cold virus, or whoever stole my trainers from the back of the stage in Buenos Aires! Otherwise, all pretty good, colder at night than I was expecting but an amazing reception from all the fans.”

“It's going to be strange playing indoors again but outdoors in Helsinki in November, I don't think so!,” adds the guitarist. “Looking forward to being in Europe, I had to miss out when I was taken ill in 2012, so it'll be great to get another chance to play there.”

Black Sabbath will launch a European tour in Helsinki, Finland on November 20.

On November 26, the metal legends will release a live DVD entitled “Black Sabbath - Gathered In Their Masses.”

The band was recorded over two shows – April 29 and May 1 – in Melbourne, Australia during the early stages of the group’s current world tour.

VIDEO: Sammy Hagar Day declared in Lowell, MA

October 25th was declared "Sammy Hagar Day" by the city of Lowell, MA in appreciation for the Hagar Family Foundation contribution to the local food bank, The Merrimack Valley Food Bank, and video of the declaration is available.

The Merrimack Valley Food Bank received a gift of $5,000 from the Hagar Family Foundation as part of the Four Decades of Rock tour, which played the Tsongas Center in Lowell last week.

Sammy is donating to local food banks in each U.S. city he visits.

As a child, Sammy knew what it was to feel hunger and is committed to preventing others from experiencing it by donating to food relief agencies like the Merrimack Valley Food Bank that has provided food for 60,000 individuals monthly through a network of food pantries in 32 communities in the region since 1991.

The Red Rocker is currently touring in support of his new album, “Sammy Hagar & Friends.”

The project recently debuted at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 to score Sammy the 11th Billboard Top 25 album of his career, as well as his highest-charting solo album in 17 years – since 1997’s “Marching To Mars.”

“Sammy Hagar & Friends” marks the Red Rocker’s first solo release in five years and sees him team up with a variety of artists, including Kid Rock, Nancy Wilson (Heart), Ronnie Dunn (Brooks & Dunn), Neal Schon (Journey, HSAS), Chickenfoot pals Chad Smith, Michael Anthony and Joe Satriani; Montrose bandmates Bill Church and Denny Carmassi, his solo band The Wabos and more.

Deep Purple: Limited edition box set to feature four classic albums

Four classic Deep Purple albums are getting the box set treatement with the November 13th release of “The Audio Fidelity Collection 1970-1973.”

The first box set from Audio Fidelity features 24 Karat Gold CDs of “In Rock” (1970), “Machine Head” (1971), “Fireball” (1972) and “Who Do We Think We Are” (1973).

The package includes the original booklets containing original album art work, historical photos and original 12" album labels, and will feature the remastering done by engineer Steve Hoffman when the individual CDs were previously issued by Audio Fidelity.

"They have been unavailable for five years," says Audio Fidelity president Marshall Blonstein, "and since then we've had numerous requests from customers to 'reissue the reissue.' So we decided to offer them again, but in this special boxed-set edition."

The sturdy slip case container will be a silver design with the Deep Purple name and the heavy metal studs individually embossed. The limited edition collection boxes will be individually numbered and reserved to 5000 units.

“The Audio Fidelity Collection 1970-1973” features the legendary second lineup of Deep Purple, which originally formed in 1967 in Hertfordshire, north of London. By 1970, the pioneering hard-rock/metal quintet consisted of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, vocalist Ian Gillan, keyboardist Jon Lord, bassist Roger Glover and drummer Ian Paice.

Originally issued in the US by Warner Bros. Records, the four albums represent the band at the peak of its popularity and creative powers. The double-platinum “Machine Head” reached #7 on Billboard's Top Albums chart, while the other three were all certified Gold.

Deep Purple are among the nominees recently announced for the 2014 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and are currently on tour in support of their latest album, “NOW What?!”
