Over the next ten days, we’ll be counting down the Top 10 Rock News Artists of the past year.
Finalists for the 15th annual hennemusic Rock News Awards are chosen by readers: the Rock News Story Of The Year is determined by page views, while the Rock News Artist Of The Year is based on the combined total page views of the top 50 hennemusic rock news stories of the past twelve months.
The 2024 hennemusic Rock News Awards winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 18.
Rock News Artist of The Year No. 10 – OASIS
As Oasis fans continued to hope the band would reunite following a split in 2009, the group made news in February when it received its first nomination for induction into the 2024 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Liam Gallagher and guitarist John Squire of The Stone Roses took their longtime friendship and mutual fandom to a new level in 2024 when they released a self-titled debut album in March.
While Oasis was not amongst the list of Rock Hall inductees when it was announced in April, the following month saw the group announce plans to release an expanded 30th anniversary version of its 1994 debut, “Definitely Maybe”, in late summer.
On August 27, Oasis made headlines when the brothers confirmed they would reunite for a world tour in 2025 after fifteen years apart.
“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over,” said the Gallagher brothers. “Come see. It will not be televised.”
The band – who formed in Manchester in 1991 – went on to become one of the UK’s biggest rock acts, with all seven of the group’s studio albums reaching UK No. 1 before they disbanded in 2009 after selling more than 75 million albums worldwide.
