The New Jersey rocker’s 2022 record, “Only The Strong Survive”, is a finalist in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category.
The covers project sees Springsteen record new versions of tracks from the catalogues of Motown, Gamble and Huff, Stax, and many more.
“Only The Strong Survive” is nominated alongside albums by Liz Callaway (“To Steve With Love: Liz Callaway Celebrates Sondheim”), Rickie Lee Jones (“Pieces Of Treasure”), Laufey (“Bewitched”), Pentatonix (“Holidays Around The World”) and a various artists package entitled “Sondheim Unplugged (The NYC Sessions), Vol. 3.”
As for the covers record, Springsteen told Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon that he “was trying to make a record that was centered around singing. So I finally came around to the realization that the greatest vocal music is, of course, gospel music and then soul music."
The 66th Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles; it will air live at 8:00 PM ET on the CBS Television Network and will stream on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).
