“PWR UP for Power Trip!,” says the group. “Listen to the rehearsal of the boys powering up with Cliff Williams, who's coming out of retirement for the festival and Matt Laug on drums.”
A mainstay in the AC/DC lineup since 1977, Williams retired in 2016 at the end of the “Rock Or Bust” world tour, but rejoined the group to record 2020’s “Power Up” album following the 2017 passing of co-founder Malcolm Young.
While longtime drummer Phil Rudd had also returned for the project, the Australian band’s first show since 2016 will see them joined by Laug, who has previously played with Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper, and Slash's Snakepit, among others.
On October 6, Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden will appear on the opening night of the three-day festival in Indio, CA; AC/DC will top the October 7 bill alongside Judas Priest; and Metallica and Tool will close things out on October 8.
“Power Up” debuted at No. 1 in more than 20 countries – including the US and UK, among others – while also enjoying a four-week run atop the Australian charts.
