Queen and Adam Lambert want to live forever on The Greatest Live series

Queen and Adam Lambert want to live forever on the latest episode of the weekly series “The Greatest Live.”

This edition highlights a version of the group’s 1986 track, “Who Wants To Live Forever”, as performed by the band during a headline appearance at the Isle Of Wight Festival in June 2016 that was enhanced by a dazzling laser show.

The event saw the band push the song further than ever with their stage production serving to complement Lambert’s vocals, with the new singer demonstrating his range for a festival crowd who might not yet have seen him in action.

“I've never heard it sung like that, that’s special,” noted Roger Taylor after the performance, while Brian May added: “Adam is astounding, the lengths he can push things to is extraordinary. Sometimes I'm standing right here playing ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’, and he's there doing his thing. And when he goes into this stratospheric thing in the middle, I very often go, ‘Wow’.”

The band’s headline set on the Isle Of Wight held added emotional significance, coming just hours after the horrific attack at the Pulse nightclub in Florida, where a mass shooting left fifty people dead and many more injured.

As Adam told the festival crowd before “Who Wants To Live Forever”: “This song is dedicated to those who lost their lives last night, and anyone who has been a victim of senseless violence or hatred.”
