Metallica’s coverage on the music streaming platform – which saw them reach 72 million listeners in 183 countries – marks the fourth year in a row that the group's songs were played more than a billion times on Spotify in a 12-month calendar period.
“You guys outdid yourselves again!,” shared the band on social media. “137 million hours of Metallica were streamed on Spotify in 2022. Whether you’re new to Metallica, or you’ve been listening for the past 41 years, we’d like to extend a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to the entire Metallica Family.”
Metallica wrapped up their 2022 schedule with their Helping Hands Concert & Auction in Los Angeles on December 16; the event saw the group deliver the debut live performance of “Lux AEterna”, the lead single from their forthcoming album, “72 Seasons.”
The band will launch a two-year world tour in support of the project in Amsterdam, NL two weeks after the album’s release in April.
