“We’re back with another taste from ‘72 Seasons’, the new album coming out on April 14,” says the band. “‘Screaming Suicide,’ the second track we’re releasing in advance, is now available to stream and download and as an instant grat with all album pre-orders.
“That’s not all: there’s a brand-new video directed by Tim Saccenti too! We first worked with Tim on “Lux Æterna” and were so blown away that we asked him to come back for round two.”
“'Screaming Suicide’ addresses the taboo word of suicide,” explains James Hetfield. “The intention is to communicate about the darkness we feel inside. It's ridiculous to think we should deny that we have these thoughts. At one point or another, I believe most people have thought about it. To face it is to speak the unspoken. If it's a human experience, we should be able to talk about it. You are not alone.”
If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please reach out for help; Metallica is sharing information on resources in multiple countries that can provide assistance in your time of need here.
The new track follows the lead single, “Lux AEterna”, from the group’s eleventh studio album; the follow-up to 2016’s “Hardwired... to Self-Destruct” was produced by Greg Fidelman, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich.
Metallica will launch a two-year world tour in support of “72 Seasons” in Amsterdam, NL two weeks after the album’s release.
