Finalists for the 13th annual hennemusic Rock News Awards are chosen by readers: the Rock News Story Of The Year is determined by page views, while the Rock News Artist Of The Year is based on the combined total page views of the top 50 hennemusic rock news stories of the past twelve months.
The 2022 hennemusic Rock News Awards winners will be announced on Friday, December 16.

Rock News Artist of The Year No. 3 – FOO FIGHTERS
The Foo Fighters began the year by promoting their horror-comedy film, “Studio 666”, ahead of its release in theaters in February, while the group went on to stream a live performance following Super Bowl LVI.
Dave Grohl appeared on the Liam Gallagher single, “Everything’s Electric”, and released a thrash metal EP, “Dream Widow”, as an offshoot of the film project.
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died in Bogota, Colombia on March 25 at the age of 50 while the band was on tour in South America; reports indicate the rocker had complained of chest pains before medical assistance arrived at his hotel room, where he was declared dead at the scene after attempts to revive him failed.
To date, there’s been no official statement regarding the cause of death for Hawkins, who joined the Foos in 1997 and played his final show with the band at Lollapalooza Argentina on March 20; the group immediately cancelled all future appearances in the wake of the tragedy.
The Foo Fighters won three Grammy Awards at the 2022 event in Las Vegas in April, including Best Rock Album for “Medicine At Midnight.”
In June, the Foo Fighters announced a pair of Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts that would see all-star lineups perform in London and Los Angeles in September.
Grohl returned to the stage for the first time since Hawkins’ passing by appearing as a guest with Paul McCartney during his headlining set at the UK’s Glastonbury Festival on June 25.
During the London tribute show for Hawkins, the drummer’s son, Shane, was among the artists to perform with the Foos ... a scene that would be repeated in Los Angeles a few weeks later.
