While the acoustic –and-piano based tune was released without any fanfare or background details, the Van Halen News Desk reports the writing credits are listed as Roth and John Lowery, aka longtime Rob Zombie guitarist John 5.
Roth first worked with John 5 on his 1998 release, “DLR Band”, before the rocker went on to join Marilyn Manson’s band; he co-wrote one of three original tracks on Roth’s 2003 covers project, “Diamond Dave”, before beginning his current tenure with Zombie in 2005.
The two regrouped in 2014 to record a new batch of songs that Lowery hopes will see the light of day; David issued a few tracks under The Roth Project banner in 2020, including “Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bar And Grill” – which he shared as a tribute to bandmate Eddie Van Halen in the weeks following the death of the iconic guitarist in October 2020 at the age of 65 – as well as “Giddy-Up” and “Lo-Rez Sunset.”
Roth – who announced last fall he would retire from music following an early 2022 Las Vegas residency that was ultimately shut down – recently hinted at a change in his active status after delivering a private performance in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in May, while he has also been in talks with Alex Van Halen about participating in a possible live tribute of some kind to Eddie Van Halen.
