Restored and mixed by Tom Allom, the massive 42CD set delivers every official live and studio album in their catalog to date – from 1974’s “Rocka Rolla” to 2018’s “Firepower” – and includes 13 discs of unreleased live and studio material.
Designed by long-time Judas Priest collaborator Mark Wilkinson, the package sees the CDs housed in mini LP Japanese-style wallets and is rounded out with a number of items, including a numbered “British Steel” metal razor blade (blunt), a replica “British Steel” tour program, two replica tour posters from the band’s British Steel 1980 German Tour and Defenders Of The Faith 1984 European Tour, a memorabilia book featuring rare photos, posters, adverts and passes, and a series of Ross Halfin photos signed by each band member: Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Ian Hill, Richie Faulkner and Scott Travis.
A “Reflections” Edition of the box set will also be available CD and 2LP formats.
“Judas Priest's curated box set representing 50 heavy metal years is the ultimate treasure trove defining the bands unwavering commitment to keeping and defending the heavy metal faith,” says Halford.
“If there's one box set you should have in your Heavy Metal collection,” adds Tipton, “it should be this one - it's immortal - proclaiming and truly representing Metal for over 50 years - Flying the Flag and proudly leading the way inspiring many bands throughout the years----this 42 CD selection says it all------it's a big part of Metal history and as such will live forever.....”
“Judas Priest: 50 Heavy Metal Years Of Music” will arrive in sync with the band’s rescheduled North American tour, which opens in Reading, PA on September 8 and wraps up with three Canadian concerts in early November.
With a catalog of 18 studio albums, Judas Priest have sold almost 50 million copies worldwide.
The forthcoming package is being previewed with a live version of “The Hellion”/”Electric Eye” from a 1986 show at The Summit in Houston, TX.
