Peter Frampton streams cover of Roxy Music classic Avalon

Peter Frampton is streaming a cover of the 1982 Roxy Music classic, “Avalon”, as the latest preview to his forthcoming instrumental album, “Frampton Forgets The Words.”

“The original is such a perfect piece of music,” says Frampton. “I really wanted to get as close to the vocal inflection as I could, and I think I almost did it! It’s a sexy kind of guitar sound, like Bryan Ferry’s vocal, and I’m very proud of it.”

“Avalon” follows the guitarist’s take on Radiohead’s “Reckoner” as the second track issued inadvance of the April 23 record, which delivers songs by David Bowie, George Harrison, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz and more.

Co-produced by the rocker and Chuck Ainlay and recorded/mixed at the guitarist’s Studio Phenix in Nashville, TN, the project features some of Frampton's favorite songs and marks the follow-up to his 2007 Grammy Award-winning instrumental album, “Fingerprints.”
