Metallica have scored a UK Top 5 debut with their new live album, “S&M2.”
According to the Official Charts Company, the project enters the Top 100 at No. 2 behind “Crabs In A Bucket”, the the third record by London rapper Nines.
In an extremely close chart race that ended with 5,000 chart sales between the Top 5, “Crabs In A Bucket” overtook midweek leaders Metallica in the last 24 hours of the tally to finish ahead by just short of 2,000 chart sales.
The feat earns Metallica their eighth UK Top 5 album.
“S&M2” presents material from the group’s two shows last fall with the San Francisco Symphony as the pair officially opened the new Chase Center in San Francisco, CA, while also marking the 20th Anniversary of their 1999 live performance recording “S&M.”
