The Rolling Stones are sharing a preview of the video for “Scarlet”, a previously-unreleased track featuring Jimmy Page that is featured on the upcoming series of reissues of their 1973 album, “Goats Head Soup.”
The official video – which features Irish actor Paul Mescal – will include a very special introduction from Mick Jagger and Mescal when it debuts on August 6.
Originally recorded in October 1974, the song also sees Blind Faith’s Rick Grech on bass.
“My recollection is we walked in at the end of a Zeppelin session,” says Keith Richards. “They were just leaving, and we were booked in next and I believe that Jimmy decided to stay. We weren’t actually cutting it as a track; it was basically for a demo, a demonstration, you know, just to get the feel of it, but it came out well, with a lineup like that, you know, we better use it.”
“I remember first jamming this with Jimmy and Keith in Ronnie’s basement studio,” recalls Mick Jagger. “It was a great session.”
“Scarlet” will be featured on a series of expanded reissues of the Stones’ classic album, which will arrive on September 4.
