The Rolling Stones have released a video for “Scarlet”, a previously-unreleased track featuring Jimmy Page that is featured on the upcoming series of reissues of their 1973 album, “Goats Head Soup.”
The clip, which features Irish actor Paul Mescal, was filmed at Claridge’s hotel in London.
“Scarlet” will be featured on a series of expanded reissues of the Stones’ classic 1973 album, which will arrive on September 4.
“My recollection is we walked in at the end of a Zeppelin session,” says Keith Richards. “They were just leaving, and we were booked in next and I believe that Jimmy decided to stay. We weren’t actually cutting it as a track; it was basically for a demo, a demonstration, you know, just to get the feel of it, but it came out well, with a lineup like that, you know, we better use it.”
“I remember first jamming this with Jimmy and Keith in Ronnie’s basement studio,” recalls Mick Jagger. “It was a great session.”
Produced by Jimmy Miller and recorded in Jamaica, Los Angeles and London, “Goats Head Soup” topped the charts around the world and delivered such Stones classic as “Angie”, “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)” and “Dancing with Mr. D.”
The record was the band’s fourth with guitarist Mick Taylor, who was added to the lineup in 1969 following the firing of founding member Brian Jones.
“Goats Head Soup 2020” will be available in multiple configurations, including four-disc CD and vinyl box set editions, Deluxe 2CD and 2LP versions, and single CD, vinyl and cassette packages.
