Metallica stream 2011 Yankee Stadium concert

Metallica are sharing video of a 2011 concert at New York’s Yankee Stadium in the latest installment of their weekly streaming series.

“Metallica Mondays hits Yankee Stadium,” says the band. “While the ballpark is no stranger to the sounds of ‘Enter Sandman,’ this gig was the first time we played there live!”

The footage features the group’s final Big 4 show alongside thrash veterans Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

“Enter Sandman” received regular airplay at the legendary New York venue when it was used as the entrance music for Yankees relief pitcher Mariano Rivera (who also had the nickname "Sandman") from 1999 until his retirement in 2013.

Metallica are gearing up for the August 28 release of a new package, “S&M2, as well as a pre-recorded live performance as the first rock band to be featured in the Encore Drive-In Nights series on August 29 and streamed at hundreds of drive-in and outdoor theaters across the United States and Canada.
