Metallica perform on The Howard Stern Show
Metallica performed three songs during an August 12 appearance on The Howard Stern Show.
The rare, virtual visit from the band’s California HQ saw the band play “Wherever I May Roam” and “The Unforgiven” from their self-titled 1991 album – on the 29th anniversary of its release – alongside 2003’s “All Within My Hands.”
“Had a blast talking with and playing for Howard this morning,” shared the group following the broadcast.
Metallica were on hand to promote the August 28 release of a new live package, “S&M2”, recorded last fall with the San Francisco Symphony.
Produced by Greg Fidelman with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, the set will be available in a variety of configurations, ranging from a digital album on all leading streaming outlets, to 4LP vinyl, 2CD, DVD and Blu-ray versions, to a limited edition color vinyl 4LP + 2CD + Blu-ray Deluxe Box featuring sheet music, guitar picks, poster and more, all the way up to a Metallica.com exclusive Super Deluxe Box, limited to 500 copies, each featuring actual sheet music used by the Symphony during the shows and hand-signed by all four band members (in addition to including everything in the Deluxe Box).
Metallica will launch the project on August 29 with a pre-recorded live performance for the Encore Drive-In Nights series, which will be streamed at hundreds of drive-in and outdoor theaters across the United States and Canada.
