Creedence Clearwater Revival will mark the 50th anniversary of their fifth album, “Cosmo’s Factory”, with a vinyl reissue on August 14.
Led by the platinum-selling singles “Who’ll Stop The Rain”, “Up Around The Bend” and “Looking Out My Back Door”, the project delivered the California band their second US No.1 album (the first was 1969’s “Green River”) and best-selling record, with more than 4 million sold in the US alone.
The 50th anniversary 180-gram vinyl reissue was mastered at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios, benefiting from an exacting process that allows for an exceptional level of sonic clarity and punch, while it comes housed in a tip-on jacket replicating the original pressing packaging.
Last year, CCR celebrated another 50th anniversary milestone by releasing – for the first time – their hour-long set at the Woodstock festival; the group previously declined to be included in the famous 1970 documentary and the film's soundtrack album.
CCR released seven albums (including three platinum ones in 1969 alone) and had a dozen US Top 40 hits before they disbanded in 1972; the group sold more than 26 million albums in the US alone and were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993.
