Green Day have released a video for “Oh Yeah!”, as the latest preview to the February 7 release of their forthcoming record, “Father Of All…”
Music fans will hear a familiar refrain in the song’s hook, which the group reveals was sampled “from the great Joan Jett’s ‘Bad Reputation’ album.”
The California outfit used a portion of Jett’s cover of the 1973 Gary Glitter hit, “Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)”; the band are donating all royalties from the convicted UK sex offender’s songwriting credit to the International Justice Mission and the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network.
“Father Of All…” marks the follow-up Green Day’s 2016 album, “Revolution Radio”, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200; the project was launched with the title track serving as the set’s lead single.
Green Day will embark on a global stadium tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer; the Hella Mega Tour kicks off June 13 in Paris and will visit cities throughout Europe, the UK and North America.
