Eddie Van Halen went unrecognized by a music fan during an encounter at the October 21 Tool concert at the Staple Center in Los Angeles.
The rocker attended the show with his son, Wolfgang, who shared the moment online.
"A guy asked my dad if he could take a picture of him with the stage behind him, having no idea who he just asked,” says the Van Halen bassist alongside a photo, “and that was my favorite moment from the #Tool show last night."
The Tool event marked a rare recent public sighting of the guitarist, who has been making headlines lately due to reports of alleged health issues that indicate Eddie has been flying to Germany in recent years to receive radiation treatments for throat cancer.
No official statements have been released regarding Eddie’s health status or Van Halen’s plans moving forward.
Van Halen will release a new box set entitled “The Japanese Singles 1978-1984” on November 1; the package collects all 13 7” vinyl singles issued in Japan during the band’s original era, from the group’s 1978 self-titled debut to their sixth album, “1984.”
