Journey will release a new live package featuring complete performances of a pair of their classic 1980s albums from a 2017 show in Japan.
Due March 29, "Live In Japan 2017: Escape + Frontiers" captures the band’s February 7, 2017 concert event at the famed Budokan in Tokyo, which took place at the request of legendary Japanese concert promoter Mr. Udo in honor of his 50th anniversary in the business.
Kicking off the two-hour set with "Don't Stop Believin'", Journey delivered a mix of hits and deep tracks like "Escape"'s "Lay It Down" and "Frontiers"' "Back Talk", which haven't been played live since the albums' original touring cycles.
These albums, which produced eight Top 40 singles combined, have sold nearly 20 million copies worldwide, with “Escape” hitting the Top 30 and “Frontiers” going Top 5 in Japan with both earning top 3 status in the US.
"Live In Japan 2017: Escape + Frontiers" will be available in multiple formats, including DVD+2CD and Blu-ray+2CD.
Journey founder and guitarist Neal Schon will launch his “Journey Through Time” tour this month with a warm-up show at the Jackson Rancheria Casino in Jackson, CA on February 22 before the trek’s official opening night at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA on February 23.
The rocker underwent emergency gallbladder removal surgery last weekend, and says he is ready to go for the 2019 trek.
