Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan has announced the first dates for a 2019 North American tour in support of his forthcoming solo album.
McKagan is sharing the first audio preview of the project in a social media video revealing a pair of shows featuring Shooter Jennings, who also produced the record.
The pair will perform at the Theatre Of The Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA on May 30 and at the City Winery in Washington, DC on May 31; tickets for both dates will go on sale Friday, February 22.
The bassist recently revealed that the album was inspired by his travels on Guns N’ Roses’ multi-year Not In This Lifetime reunion tour.
“I wrote a couple of articles about historical places I passed through on this last tour and people kept asking if that was going to be the focus of my next book,” said McKagan. “But an unseen and irrepressible force guided me to write little vignettes of reflective prose…little instant-reactions.
“The heartbreak, anger, fear, confusion and divide I have experienced over the last two and a half years of traveling this globe of ours coerced these words into songs that tell my truth, and one that I hope will spread and help us all. I do this for my daughters…I do this for my love of where I grew up…I do this, because I truly feel it must be done and said right now.”
Considered a “musical follow-up” to his 2015 book, “How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions)”, McKagan began working on the album with Jennings in March of 2018 at Los Angeles’ Station House studios, while resuming sessions during downtime from the Guns N’ Roses tour.
