Steve Perry is thanking fans for their support of his return to music in 2018 with an audio stream of his version of the holiday classic, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”
The former Journey singer resurfaced with “Traces”, his first solo effort since 1994's “For The Love Of Strange Medicine”; introduced by the lead single, “No Erasin’”, the project debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 this fall.
Perry recorded the set at his home studio – with only strings done at Capitol Records – alongside co-producer Thom Flowers; the record features nine original tracks alongside a cover of The Beatles’ “I Need You.”
While Perry was with Journey, he and the band notched seven US top 10s – from 1980’s “Departure” through 1996’s “Trial By Fire” – but “Traces” earned the singer his first solo US top 10 album on the chart.
“This has been a big year of firsts for me,” says Perry. “In keeping with that spirit, I thought I'd record a little Christmas card song and send it out to you to thank you for all of your kindness in welcoming me back.
“Have yourself a merry little Christmas. I hope you enjoy it.”
