Glenn Hughes will exclusively perform material from his former band on his “Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live” nationwide UK tour in October.
The nine date run – which opens in Bristol on October 2 – will see the singer/bassist deliver a two-hour live homage to his tenure in Deep Purple MK 3 and MK 4.
“I’m excited to be touring the Classic Deep Purple Live in the UK this October,” says Hughes. “I first toured Classic Deep Purple Live in Australia and New Zealand last year and it went down like a storm. We’re also touring the show throughout South America in April, and festivals throughout the summer. By the time we tour the UK in October, we’ll be on fire.”
“I’m not playing anything on the forthcoming tour that I didn’t either play live or record in the studio with Purple,” adds the rocker. “I can still sing the songs, in some ways even better than I did in the 70’s. I can still perform them with the same energy that was on the stage back then, too.
“I feel that the time is right. It’s fun to get back into character of my days with Purple. I’m looking back at my life and I want to remember the good stuff. I’m incredibly excited to perform these songs, as they helped define the genre. I can assure you, the new show is going to blow your mind.”
A Planet Rock presale for the UK dates will begin on Wednesday, February 21, with general public tickets available Friday, February 23, via The Gig Cartel.
Hughes and the early lineups of Deep Purple were inducted into the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at a ceremony in New York in 2016 alongside fellow honorees Cheap Trick, Steve Miller, Chicago and N.W.A.
Following a pair of rare live dates last month in the UK, Hughes and Black Country Communion will continue to promote their latest effort, “BCCIV”, on the 4th Keeping The Blues Alive cruise on the Norwegian Jade for a trip that runs from Miami, Florida to Montego Bay, Jamaica from February 26 – March 2.
