U2 launched their latest album, “Songs Of Experience”, with an intimate live performance special recorded at London’s famed Abbey Road Studios for the BBC, and video from the broadcast is streaming online.
Hosted by Cat Deeley, “U2 At The BBC” sees the band joined by a choir and orchestra to present new tunes including “Get Out Of Your Own Way”, and classic tracks like “Beautiful Day”, “All I Want Is You” and “With Or Without You.”
The companion to 2014’s “Songs Of Innocence” was completed earlier this year with a series of producers – including Jacknife Lee and Ryan Tedder, Steve Lillywhite, Andy Barlow and Jolyon Thomas – following recording sessions in Dublin, New York and Los Angeles.
The two projects draw inspiration from a collection of poems, “Songs Of Innocence And Experience”, by the 18th century English mystic and poet William Blake.
“Songs Of Experience” recently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 to earn the group their eighth US chart-topper and first since 2009’s “No Line On The Horizon.”
U2 also performed on Saturday Night Live and will begin a North American tour on May 2 in Tulsa, OK.
