The Who are streaming video of a performance of “Pinball Wizard” from the new package, “Tommy: Live At The Royal Albert Hall”, which will see its release via multiple formats on October 13.
The Who performed their 1969 rock opera at the prestigious London venue in its entirety for the very first time in April at an event in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust, the UK charity founded in 1990 to assist youth with support and cancer care.
The “Tommy” show was rounded out with a set of Who classics, also featured in the fall release, which adds bonus behind-the-scenes features like full screen animations of both “The Acid Queen” and “Pinball Wizard” with the accompanying live audio.
“Tommy: Live At The Royal Albert Hall” is available on DVD, Blu-ray, 2CD and 3LP.
The Who recently wrapped up its 2017 live schedule with a series of dates in South America.
Frontman Roger Daltrey will launch a brief solo run in North America that will begin in Clearwater, FL on October 30.
This week, Daltrey announced plans to publish his memoir in the fall of 2018.
“It's taken three years to unpack the events of my life,” he says, “to remember who did what when and why, to separate the myths from the reality, to unravel what really happened at the Holiday Inn on Keith Moon's 21st birthday.
"I hope the result is more than just another autobiography. I've been lucky enough to live in interesting times. I've witnessed society, music and culture change beyond recognition. That I'm still here to tell my tale when so many others around me didn't make it is nothing short of a miracle."
Daltrey’s project follows bandmate Pete Townshend‘s memoir, “Who I Am”, which was issued in 2012.
