Bruce Springsteen expands concert archive releases
Bruce Springsteen has announced plans to expand his ongoing archival concert series with the addition of 25 new recordings.
According to Rolling Stone, Springsteen fan site Backstreets reports Brad Serling from concert recording archive site nugs.net revealed the news on SiriusXM's E Street Radio channel that the rocker will issue the series of newly-approved releases via nugs.net the first Friday of every month.
Released on August 4, the first pair of new releases delivers music from Springsteen’s brief 1977 tour – originally recorded on cassette by Chas Gerber, the New Jersey rocker’s sound engineer in the 1970s.
A February 7, 1977 show at The Palace Theatre in Albany, NY and a February 8, 1977 date at the Auditorium Theatre in Rochester, NY mark the first-ever soundboard recordings to surface from the ‘77 tour, including early prototypes of “Something In The Night,” “Rendezvous” and “The Promise”; the unreleased original “Action In The Streets” featuring The Miami Horns; and an expanded version of “Backstreets.”
No soundboard recording of Springsteen in 1977 is currently in circulation, according to Backstreets, who adds that the trek “closed out the ‘Born To Run’ era and hinted at directions Springsteen might take on 1978’s ‘Darkness On The Edge Of Town.”

Springsteen has released a few concert recordings to date in 2017, including a 2008 show in St. Louis, MO, a 2012 date in Helsinki, Finland, and a 2009 concert in Philadelphia, PA.
