Roger Waters is streaming “Smell The Roses” as the lead single from his forthcoming album, “Is This The Life We Really Want?”
The song is one of a dozen original tunes featured on the bassist’s first new album in 25 years, which is being billed as “an unflinching commentary on the modern world and uncertain times” and “a natural successor to classic Pink Floyd albums such as ‘Animals’ and ‘The Wall.’”
Due June 2, Waters recorded the project with producer Nigel Godrich in London and Los Angeles.
Joining the pair on the follow-up to 1992’s “Amused To Death” are Gus Seyffert (bass, guitar, keyboards), Jonathan Wilson (guitar, keyboards), Joey Waronker (drums), Roger Manning (keyboards), Lee Pardini (keyboards), and Lucius (vocals) with Jessica Wolfe and Holly Proctor.
“Is This The Life We Really Want?” will be available in a variety of formats, including standard CD, a 4-panel soft pack CD, a double 180-gram vinyl LP in a gatefold jacket, and digital download.
Waters will debut at least some of the album on a North American tour that starts in Kansas City, MO on May 26.
