John Mellencamp was joined by Martina McBride for a performance of his new single, “Grandview”, on NBC-TV’s The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, and video from the program is available.
The track will appear on Mellencamp’s forthcoming album, “Sad Clowns & Hillbillies.”
Due April 28, the project pairs the Indiana rocker with Carlene Carter, who will join Mellencamp on his upcoming North American tour.
Set to begin June 5 in Denver, CO, the bill will also include Emmylou Harris and folk-pop sister duo Lily & Madeleine, who provide background vocals on “Sad Clowns...”
Mellencamp’s 23rd album marks the follow-up to 2014’s “Plain Spoken.” Supported by an extensive North American tour, the record peaked at No. 18 on the US Billboard 200.
