Metallica can be seen singing Rihanna’s 2012 smash, “Diamonds”, in the latest preview to the upcoming launch of Apple Music’s Carpool Karaoke series.
The metal veterans were previously featured in the first trailer singing their 1986 classic, “Master Of Puppets”, on the road and 1991's “Enter Sandman” in a supermarket.
Based on the segment that has become a global viral video sensation on CBS-TV’s The Late Late Show with James Corden, the new Apple series features 16 celebrity pairings riding along in a car together as they sing tunes from their personal playlists and surprise fans who don’t expect to see big stars belting out tunes one lane over.
Where Corden initiated the series in the spring of 2015 as host and driver before selling the branding rights, the Apple version will occasionally feature the CBS star as well as other guests playing host through the 16-episode run, which will include appearances by Will Smith, Ariana Grande, Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys and more.
Apple’s Carpool Karaoke is expected to debut soon this spring.
Metallica will resume the WorldWired tour in support of their No. 1 album, “Hardwired…To Self Destruct”, with three shows in Mexico City next month before a series of Lollapalooza appearances in South America in late March.
