Metallica have confirmed plans to perform at the Grammy Awards next month in sync with their nomination for “Hardwired”, the lead single from their latest album, “Hardwired…To Self Destruct.”
The track is nominated in the Best Rock Song category alongside tunes by David Bowie (“Blackstar”), Radiohead (“Burn The Witch”), Twenty-One Pilots (“Heathens”) and Highly Suspect (“My Name Is Human”).
“First, it was a total honor to be nominated, but now this?!!?,” says the band. “We’re beyond excited that we have been invited to perform on the 59th annual Grammy Awards telecast on Sunday, February 12, 2017.
“It’s been three years since we were lucky enough to participate in the awards show when we last performed with world-renowned Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang and we’re thrilled to be asked back.
“We have something very unique and special planned for this celebratory night, so tune in to watch.”
The 59th annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 12 on CBS-TV starting at 8:00 PM EST.
Metallica resumed their WorldWired tour in Seoul, South Korea on January 11; the band have released pro-shot video of three songs from the concert, including “Now That We’re Dead” “Halo On Fire” and “Hardwired.”
