Metallica performed a 7-song set during an appearance on the Canal+ nightly news program Le Grand Journal in Paris, France on November 15, and video of the full performance is available.
The band delivered three new songs ahead of the November 18 release of “Hardwired…To Self Destruct” – “Hardwired”, “Moth Into Flame” and “Atlas, Rise!” – alongside classic tracks “Creeping Death”, “For Whom The Bell Tolls”, “One” and “Enter Sandman.”
The stop was one of three countries the band visited in Europe last week – alongside Berlin, Germany and London, UK – as part of the launch of their tenth album, which was co-produced by Greg Fidelman, guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich.
"We're itching to play them," says Ulrich of the new material. "Right now, every day when we get into the Tuning Room we're just playing the new songs. Then we're like, 'Wait, we gotta get out there and play 'Master of Puppets.'"
“Some of the songs from the new record are a little more physical. It's gonna be a lot of fun to play this. Also, some of these songs are a little shorter than the ones on Death Magnetic. I think it's gonna be a lot of fun to throw many of these songs in, but we'll change the setlist every night like we always do."
Metallica recently completed a 5-date Latin American run as the opening leg of their WorldWired tour in support of “Hardwired.”
