Green Day are premiering a video for “Bang Bang,” the lead single from their forthcoming album, “Revolution Radio.”
Directed by Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong, the clip sees the band make headlines for robbing a bank, with footage of the group performing the tune in someone’s living room.
"It's about the culture of mass shooting that happens in America mixed with narcissistic social media," Billie Joe Armstrong said recently. "There's this sort of rage happening, but it's also now being filmed and we all have ourselves under surveillance. To me, that is so twisted.
“To get into the brain of someone like that was freaky. It freaked me out. After I wrote it, all I wanted to do was get that out of my brain because it just freaked me out."
Due October 7, “Revolution Radio” was recorded at Armstrong’s new studio in Oakland, CA.
Green Day will launch the project with a rare club tour of North America that will begin in St. Louis, MO on September 20.
