Robert Plant is sharing video of a July 1 performance of the Led Zeppelin classic, “The Lemon Song,” at the 2016 Rock Werchter festival in Belgium.
The tune – which originally appeared on 1969’s “Led Zeppelin II” – was the opening song of Plant’s 11-song set with The Sensational Space Shifters at the annual event.
Alongside several other Zeppelin tunes, Plant and the band also delivered a few originals and covers of tracks by Joan Baez (“Babe, I’m Going To Leave You”) and Bukka White (“Fixin’ To Die”).
Plant and the band are currently on the road playing dates across Europe.
Earlier this year, the singer revealed work had begun on a follow-up to 2014’s “lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar.”
“Our recent travels have taken this wild whirlwind of a band though many incredible and inspiring places,” said Plant ahead of a spring US tour. “Having just begun work on our new album, we thought we’d take time out to raise a little sand and welcome springtime with one more adventure, another celebration of life and song.”
Last month, Plant and co-defendant Jimmy Page were cleared of copyright infringement in the trial over the creation of Led Zeppelin's signature 1971 song “Stairway To Heaven.”
A jury in a Los Angeles federal coural court case sided with the UK band in a 2014 suit brought by Randy California's estate and members of Spirit by trustee Michael Skidmore over claims the acoustic introduction to “Stairway” was lifted from their 1968 instrumental, “Taurus.”
"We are grateful for the jury's conscientious service and pleased that it has ruled in our favor, putting to rest questions about the origins of 'Stairway to Heaven' and confirming what we have known for 45 years,” said Page and Plant. “We appreciate our fans' support, and look forward to putting this legal matter behind us.”
