Bad Company to release 1970s live album
Bad Company will release a pair of classic 1970s-era concerts this spring.
Due April 29, the 2CD “Live In Concert 1977 & 1979” delivers two previously unreleased live recordings: a 1977 show in Houston, TX and a 1979 performance at The Empire Pool in London (now known as Wembley Arena).
The sets feature the original Bad Company line up of singer Paul Rodgers, guitarist Mick Ralphs, drummer Simon Kirke and bassist Boz Burrell.
The first disc captures the band’s show at the Summit House in Houston while the band was on the road in support of their fourth album, 1977’s “Burnin’ Sky.”
Disc two delivers a spring 1979 live date in London, UK, recorded just a week before the release of Bad Company’s fifth record, “Desolation Angels.”
Both concerts feature material from the band’s catalog, including classic tracks from their self-titled 1974 album, 1975’s “Straight Shooter” and 1976’s “Run With The Pack.”
“Live In Concert 1977 & 1979” presents more than two-and-half hours of unreleased music taken from 24-track tapes in the band’s vault. The music heard on this live collection features absolutely no enhancements or overdubs, nothing but the band as they performed live on the night of the concert.
Vinyl fans should note that the concerts will also be released individually as double-LP sets later this year.
“Live In Concert 1977 & 1979” also includes the band’s cover of “Hey Joe”, which was recorded on March 9, 1979 at the Capitol Center in Washington, DC.
