On the eve of the release of his new album “Blackstar”, David Bowie is premiering a video for the project’s second single “Lazarus.”
The clip was directed by Johan Renck, who oversaw the video for the album’s title track.
“One could only dream about collaborating with a mind like that; let alone twice,” says Renck. “Intuitive, playful, mysterious and profound... I have no desire to do any more videos knowing the process never ever gets as formidable and fulfilling as this was. I’ve basically touched the sun."
“Lazarus” is the only track from the project also featured in the current New York stage production of the same name, written by Bowie and Enda Walsh and directed by Ivo Van Hove.
Bowie’s 28th album, “Blackstar”, hits stores January 8 – the same day the singer turns 69.
The set was produced by Tony Visconti and recorded at the Magic Shop in New York last year.
