Rumors over a Guns N’ Roses reunion in 2016 are heating up based on a new media report, a series of mysterious tweets by the group themselves and a possible leak by a friend of the band caught on video.
A Dish Nation report quotes a music industry insider as saying the group are ”days away” from announcing a world tour following a reconciliation between Axl Rose and Slash earlier this year.
“Slash and Axl have verbally agreed to get things together again and reform the original band,” says the insider. “The live shows are where they can show the world what they had and also make the greatest earnings. Promoters are quietly working away to land opportunities. Details of the reunion are expected to leak out in the next few days. Everyone is expecting huge demand for tickets, but the boys are very humble and are not sure what to expect.”
Dish Nation adds that it’s expected the reunited outfit will headline several festivals across Europe and the United States before heading out on a staggered world tour that will coincide with their 30th anniversary.
A friend of bassist Duff McKagan’s wife, Susan Holmes-McKagan, was quoted on video last week outside a benefit for the City Of Hope cancer center as saying the reunion is on.
“Guns N’ Roses is coming back, motherf—ers!”, said Brandi Glanville of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills. While neither confirming or denying the news, McKagan’s wife added “Whoo!”
While there’s no official word from the group themselves, Guns N’ Roses have issued a series of mysterious tweets in recent days, writing “What ever happened to no news is good news? Of course today everyone is a journalist. If only they could read lips…Surely they’ll read between the lines.”
The Use Your Illusion-era lineup of Rose, Slash, McKagan, Matt Sorum, Dizzy Reed and Gilby Clarke last performed together at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 17, 1993.
Guns N’ Roses last live shows took place as part of the band’s 2014 residency at the The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The group recently underwent a lineup change with guitarist DJ Ashba leaving the lineup to focus on Sixx:AM while sources confirmed that guitarist Ron ‘Bumbelfoot’ Thal left the group following the 2014 residency.
