Yes announce full European tour dates
Yes have unveiled the full schedule for a spring 2016 tour of the UK and Europe.
The 5-week trek opens in Glasgow on April 27 as a part of a 10-date UK run ahead of a month of shows across Europe.
The tour will see Yes perform 1971’s “Fragile” and 1980’s “Drama” albums in their entirety.
“This is the first time we’ll be performing Drama in its entirety,” says guitarist Steve Howe. “Most of the songs haven’t been performed in some 30 years.”
The shows will see Yes alumnus Billy Sherwood handling bass duties following the June 27 death of founder Chris Squire at the age of 67 from Acute Erythroid Leukemia (AEL), an uncommon form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
Sherwood was confirmed to fill-in for Squire for this past summer's tour of North America while the bassist underwent treatement for his health issues.
Drummer Alan White confirmed the progressive rock icons would continue following the loss of Squire – at his request.
"It's certainly going to be hard without him, but he called me and asked me to keep everything going regardless of what happens," White revealed. "So absolutely we're moving ahead. I'm gonna do it for him. The fans are behind the band and want the band to keep moving forward here. It doesn't seem like anybody's kind of given up on the band, which is really encouraging and it'll help us move things forward.
“Things can't just stop, you know? We've got to maintain the Yes name and ... meet the high standards of musicianship Chris created."
Yes were among the nominees announced this past week for induction into the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
The Cleveland-based institution revealed the full list on Thursday, which also includes Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, The Cars, Steve Miller and Chicago, among others.
