VIDEO: Foo Fighters joined by Yes singer for Rush classic

The Foo Fighters were joined by Yes singer Jon Davison for a cover of the Rush classic, “Tom Sawyer”, in Anaheim, CA on September 19.

“He’s one of my best friends of all time,” said drummer Taylor Hawkins in his introduction. “I’ve known him since second grade.”

“I have to say that Taylor and I were the biggest Rush nerds in high school,” Davison added. “Mullets and everything.”

“We tried to learn a Yes song but we didn’t have enough time,” Hawkins explained, with Dave Grohl adding, “They’re too hard!”

The Anaheim show is part of the Foo Fighters current North American tour in support of “Sonic Highways.”

Produced by Butch Vig, the band’s 8th studio album was launched with the companion documentary series airing on HBO.

The project was recently honored with a pair of Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Sound Editing For Nonfiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Camera) and Outstanding Sound Mixing For Nonfiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Camera).
