David Gilmour has landed his highest solo US chart position with “Rattle That Lock.”
Billboard reports the Pink Floyd guitarist’s fourth solo effort debuts at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 71,000 units.
The feat sees Gilmour best his No. 6 chart position with his last project, 2006’s “On An Island.”
The US news follows word that “Rattle That Lock” entered the UK charts at No. 1 on Friday as well as top spot in Italy, France, Sweden, Norway, Belgium and New Zealand.
The guitarist just premiered a video for “Today”, the latest single from the project.
Directed by Aubrey Powell, the clip features Gilmour in rehearsal for his current world tour alongside footage from a September 5 warm-up show in Brighton, UK.
Gilmour will wrap up a sold-out 11-date European tour early next month following five shows at The Royal Albert Hall.
