Black Sabbath announce farewell tour

Black Sabbath have announced the first series of dates for their farewell world tour.

Billed as “The End”, three-quarters of the original lineup – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler – will launch the group’s final live dates in Omaha, NE on January 20.

Original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward recently said he needs an apology from Osbourne over remarks in recent years and a "signable contract" before he considers any conversations that might lead to a reunion of the groundbreaking UK metal band...and the tour news appears to put that issue on the backburner for the last time.

Ward declined to participate in the group’s 2013 album, “13”, and tour over a contractual dispute; the group recorded the project with Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine while Ozzy’s solo drummer, Tommy Clufetos, handled live dates for the tour.

The remaining members of Black Sabbath have unveiled a month of North American live dates and a series of April shows in Australia and New Zealand.

Last fall, Osbourne said the group would record a final album together with producer Rick Rubin, but the tour announcement does not include any details about a recording project.

Meanwhile, Ozzy is working on new solo album while bailing on plans to launch a month-long residency in Las Vegas next month.

The singer will play two scheduled solo shows this fall, including a Halloween appearance at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans and a November 22 headline set at Ozzfest Japan, which was originally announced by Sharon Osbourne to be Black Sabbath’s farewell concert.
