Robert Plant postpones Detroit show due to illness

Robert Plant has postponed his June 9 Detroit show at the Meadow Brook Music Festival due to illness.

“Sunday morning I woke up with a flu that's developed into laryngitis,” says Plant. “I’m really disappointed as I’ve only missed 1 gig in 15 years and now here’s two in a row. It’s heartbreaking. I’m furious, frustrated and silent.”

Tickets will be honored for the new date of Thursday, September 10.

Refunds are available at point of purchase until June 19 in the event ticket holders are unable to make the new date, which will not include The Pixies as openers; a new support act will be announced.

The Detroit concert is the second in a row affected by Plant’s illness: he postponed a June 7 concert in Toronto when the health issue first flared up on Sunday.

The singer’s next scheduled show is June 10 at the First Merit Bank Pavilion in Chicago, IL.

Plant is in the middle of a 4-week spring tour of North America in support of “lullaby and...The Ceaseless Roar.”

The trek with the Sensational Space Shifters started May 24 at the Sasquatch Festival in George, WA, with dates wrapping up in Philadelphia on June 17.
