Journey drummer charged with domestic violence

Journey drummer Deen Castronovo has been charged in an alleged domestic violence incident in Salem, Oregon.

TMZ reports Castronovo was arrested for assault after an early morning domestic dispute.

Salem Oregon Police were called to a home – which they believe was Castronovo's – around 9 AM Sunday. Police entered the home and arrested the drummer without incident.

Deputy District Attorney Jean Kunkle wrote in court papers that Castronovo knowingly caused physical injury to a woman.

The Journey member was booked for assault, coercion, and menacing; he was released on bail and a plea hearing has been scheduled for June 30.

It’s the second domestic violence incident involving Castronovo in recent years: he was also arrested in Oregon in 2012 for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

The first incident saw the drummer charged with several crimes, including fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest, interfering with a police report and coercion.

Castronovo received a sentence of 80 hours of community service and was ordered to attend anger-management classes.

Castronovo and Journey are scheduled to perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra on the opening night of the prestigious venue’s 2015 season on June 20.

The band will play a full set with the Orchestra, led by Principal Conductor Thomas Wilkins, marking the group's first-ever performance with an orchestra.
