Iron Maiden bassist and founder Steve Harris has announced a full UK summer tour for his solo project British Lion.
A 22-date run starts July 29 in Harlow.
"As Maiden fans know," says Harris, “the band is unable to tour this year so I thought I’d do some British Lion live dates and make it a full UK tour this time round so we could get to places we didn’t get a chance to play during the previous tours.
“We have a lot of fun doing the British Lion shows and we’re playing clubs again, to keep that same vibe and intimacy which the fans seem to love as much as we do. We have some new songs in the set-list, so are really looking forward to getting out there and seeing everyone!”
Harris released his solo debut album, “British Lion”, in 2012. The project features Richard Taylor on vocals, David Hawkins on guitar and keys, Grahame Leslie on guitar, and Simon Dawson on drums.
The 10 track album was mixed by Maiden’s longstanding producer Kevin Shirley.
Iron Maiden recorded an album in 2014 but plans to release it were on hold while singer Bruce Dickinson underwent treatment for cancer.
Last month, Dickinson was declared cancer-free by doctors following an MRI Scan, and manager Rod Smallwood revealed the group will now move forward with the project.
“For now, the focus will be on putting the finishing touches to the new Iron Maiden studio album and that is what we will be concentrating on over the coming weeks,” he said recently. “The release however will definitely be this year.”
