Neil Young takes on Starbucks and Monsanto in new video

Neil Young is sharing video of “A Rock Star Bucks A Coffee Shop”, as a preview to his new album, “The Monsanto Years”, on June 29 (June 30 in North America).

The project sees Young team with Promise Of The Real, featuring Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah Nelson.

The singer has railed for years against Monsanto, a chemical company specializing in genetically modified seeds.

Last November, Young urged a boycott of Starbucks when they partnered with Monsanto in a lawsuit against the state of Vermont in an attempt to block a landmark law that requires genetically-modified ingredients be labeled on food packaging.

Young is also sharing the tracklist for the album, which will be available on CD, digital download and as PonoMusic high-res audio, with a vinyl edition to be issued in August.

The pairing will launch the “Rebel Content” tour on July 5 at Summerfest in Milwaukee.

“The Monsanto Years” marks Young’s third album in the past year, following “A Letter Home” and “Storytone.”
