The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, founded in memory of the voice of Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio, has announced a weekend of activities to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the singer's untimely passing from gastric cancer on May 16, 2010.
The May 15th - 17th weekend in Los Angeles, CA will include a public Memorial Service, a Bowl For Ronnie Celebrity Bowling tournament and the inaugural Ride For Ronnie motorcycle ride and BBQ.
On Friday, May 15, the weekend opens with the Bowl For Ronnie Celebrity Bowling tournament. The evening of fun, food, entertainment and bowling will see rock stars and celebrities competing for trophies in the name of raising funds and awareness for the Ronnie James Dio SUAS Cancer Fund. A silent auction will include collectible bowling pins autographed by artists such as Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, YES, Anthrax and Metallica and in addition to many more major items.
The free public Memorial Service will take place at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on Saturday, May 16. Several former band members and friends who worked with Ronnie are expected to speak and perform his music.
The inaugural Ride For Ronnie motorcycle ride and BBQ is set for Sunday, May 17. Participants will depart Glendale, traveling the freeways of the north San Fernando Valley, then down the 405 to a BBQ at Los Encinos Historical Park in Encino. The BBQ will feature great food and drink, live music by Ronnie's former bandmates and friends, raffle prizes, live auction and much more.

Tenacious D picked up the Grammy for Best Metal Performance at the 57th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles last month.
The band were honored for their remake of Dio’s “The Last in Line” as featured on the 2014 Ronnie James Dio tribute album, “This Is Your Life.”
Tenacious D took home the prize ahead of fellow nominees Anthrax, Motorhead, Slipknot and Mastodon.
