REPORT: Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler to record country album

A new report indicates Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler will sign with a Nashville-based record company and record a country album as his solo debut.

Sources tell Billboard that Tyler is expected to sign with Big Machine Label Group within the next few weeks, and that he has already begun working on a country album for the label.

According to an insider, Tyler’s label deal could go down "anytime" but is due to happen "before the summer."

Tyler announced his intent to record a country album during a Twitter Q&A last October.

The rocker relocated to Nashville in January and began collaborating with local songwriters who have created hits for the likes of Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and Eric Church.

While no producer has been confirmed at this stage, Tyler's album could surface by the end of the year, although sources suggest a 2016 release is more likely.

Tyler will join Aerosmith this year for the Blue Army Tour, with US summer dates set to start June 24 in Evansville, IN.
