Sammy Hagar’s latest supergroup, The Circle, is premiering audio of a performance of the 1991 Van Halen classic, “Poundcake”, as a preview to the May 19 release of their debut/live debut album, “At Your Service.”
“Poundcake” was the lead single from Van Halen’s ninth studio album, “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.” The track reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart, while the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart on its way to selling more than 3 million copies in the States alone.
“At Your Service” captures The Circle – Hagar, Chickenfoot and former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and longtime Wabos guitarist Vic Johnson – in concert last year performing hits from Hagar’s 4 Decades Of Rock show as well as classic tracks from the Led Zeppelin catalog.
The Circle will launch a US tour on April 11 in Las Vegas.
The latest Hagar release follows last fall’s “Lite Roast”, which saw the Red Rocker teamed with Johnson to deliver stripped-down versions of tunes from his career.
