The Rolling Stones have issued a video message thanking fans in Australia and New Zealand for their support of the 14 On Fire tour shows last last year.
“What a way to end the tour in Australia and New Zealand,” says Mick Jagger.
“It’s a great place to play,” adds Keith Richards, “and the other great thing about Australia and New Zealand is that it’s summer…but it’s winter at home.”
The Australian tour opened in Adelaide on October 25 and saw a show at Hanging Rock cancelled when Jagger took ill; the trek wrapped up in Auckland on November 22.
The fall shows down under were rescheduled from spring following the sudden passing of Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, L’Wren Scott, on March 17.
The 14 On Fire tour opened in Adu Dhabi in February before playing dates in Japan and the Far East in the spring; a summer trek through Europe followed before reaching Australia and New Zealand.
Richards has hinted that the Stones will play more shows in 2015.
