VIDEO: Jimmy Page talks new music and solo tour

Led Zeppelin mastermind Jimmy Page is sharing some of his plans regarding new music and a possible live tour.

Page has been focusing on the Led Zeppelin reissue series for the past few years, leading up to its launch in 2014 with the group’s first five albums re-released as expanded editions with bonus material.

Now he says its time to move on to the next chapter.

"I'm playing guitar at the moment", Page tells Classic Rock. "Because I'm getting ready.”

“Whatever I do, I don't want everyone to have made up their minds before I've done it,” he explains. “On the internet, people are telling me, 'you're doing this, and you're doing that', and I'm 'Am I?' Just wait and see what I do. I've got new material I’ve written and it will be surprising. I don’t want to go out there and bore people.”

Page hints that a solo tour would feature a variety of music from throughout his career – from The Yardbirds through Led Zeppelin and beyond.

“If I was doing a show, I would like to show what I’ve done along the way but definitely have musical surprises for people so they wouldn’t sort of start yawning.”

The guitarist anticipates a solo run will be a special experience for all.

“It’s going to be sparkling…that’s what it’s going to be like: stimulating the senses.”
