The Scorpions have unveiled the first series of dates for their 50th anniversary tour.
Shows begin May 8 in the Czech Republic, with European concerts scheduled throughout the summer and fall; more dates will be announced soon.
The German rockers have also revealed an extensive tour of their homeland in March of 2016.
On January 24, 2010, after 45 years of performing, The Scorpions announced that they would be retiring after touring in support of their new album at the time, “Sting In The Tail”, although this decision was eventually retracted and the band will continue.
Singer Klaus Meine revealed in a 2013 interview that the band are planning a new album that will feature leftovers from the early 1980s.
“We started that over a year ago,” Meine confirmed at the time. “It will be material that was never finished; songs with pure Scorpions DNA from a very exciting time. Once we close the book on the crazy touring schedule that’s something we’ll pick up again.”
Earlier this year, the band released “MTV Unplugged - Scorpions Live In Athens”, a package compiled from three concerts in Athens, Greece at the city’s Lycabettus Theatre last fall.
